ST. LOUIS (AP) – Eighteen people face federal charges in a cocaine trafficking ring linked to St. Louis homicides.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 14 of them were arrested and in custody Wednesday on a 20-count superseding indictment delivered Jan. 7. The original case was filed against 29-year-old Anthony Jordan in August.

The indictment alleges that 55-year-old Jose Alfredo Velazquez of Texas and 37-year-old Adrian Lemons of St. Louis imported bulk shipments of cocaine from Mexico.

The indictment also accuses Lemons, Jordan and 29-year-old Maurice Woodson in a man’s fatal shooting in December 2013. Jordan is also accused in three other homicides, one of which the indictment says 27-year-old Gloria Ward was also involved.

Lemons’ lawyer said he hadn’t seen the indictment Thursday. The newspaper couldn’t reach Jordan’s lawyers for comment. The others hadn’t been arrested or hadn’t retained lawyers.
