Pope Francis and Kim Kardashian, while on the surface seem to have not much in common, have rallied behind the support of Armenians, on this, the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, a chapter in history that many of us did not even know existed…
Today on the show we had author Chris Bohjalian on, to talk about his upcoming visit to St. Louis to speak about the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, at the hands of Ottoman Turks. While the Turks refuse to recognize, and label the atrocities in 1915 a “Genocide” (and so does the White House, for arguably political reasons), it still doesn’t change the fact that 1.5 Million Armenians died in death marches and camps, in ways that later influenced Adolf Hitler in his treatment of the Jews.
Of all people speaking out on this the 100th Anniversary, the Pope, Kim Kardashian, and nearly all European countries, either referencing the Genocide, or outright calling on Turkey to adopt the term, which as mentioned above, it still refuses to do.
A fascinating conversation with Bohjalian, and local Armenian descendant Lisa Bedian, on an atrocity that many don’t even know about, but has gotten some much needed light shed on it this year.
