City employee charged with impersonating officer, sex assault

St. Louis, MO (KTRS) – A civilian employee with the St. Louis Police Department faces charges for allegedly impersonating a cop and sexual assault.

Prosecutors have charged Michael Cornell with four counts of forcible sodomy and a count of impersonating a police officer. An Internal Affairs investigation earlier this year uncovered the alleged crimes. Cornell has been with the police as a civilian processing clerk in 2008.

Police believe there may be more victims and ask anyone with information to call Internal Affairs at 444-5405. Cornel remains in jail.
