St. Louis, MO (KTRS) – Stray Rescue of St. Louis is asking for help to catch the person responsible for a case of horrific animal abuse.

Founder Randy Grimm says he was contacted on Friday by the US Marshals. They found a dog near Chrisitan Avenue in the Baden neighborhood. Someone had tied a rope around the dogs waist so tightly that the rope was embedded into the dog’s waist. Caretakers have named the dog, a 5-year-old Border Collie, Pazzo. Stray Rescue anticipates that Pazzo’s surgeries and rehabilitation will cost around $10,000.

Grimm says he is hopeful someone will come forward with information because Pazzo is a distinct looking dog. Anyone with information is asked to call the animal abuse hotline at 314.771.6121 (ext. 255) or the St. Louis County Police Department.

A reward of $1,000 is being offered.
