Ferguson City Council Approves Employment Contract With Interim City Manager

St. Louis, MO (KTRS)  The city of Ferguson has an employment agreement with its interim city manager. The city council approved a temporary contract for Pam Hylton during the City Council meeting Monday night.

According to Mayor James Knowles, Hylton’s temporary contract includes a salary of $100,000 annually, pro-rated for the term that she’s going to be in that position. It also states that she will be allowed to resume her position as assistant city-manager, one a permanent city-manager is hired and a severance, should she be terminated.

Hylton is replacing John Shaw, who resigned following the report by the Department of Justice.

Knowles says only  only preliminary work is being done right now in search of a new city-manager. “The city council decided that we’re not going to engage in the actual process until we get a new city council set in place. We have three members who are going to be stepping down. We’ll have three new members of the city council. It’s only fair to the residents and the public to allow this decision to be made by the representatives that will be coming on in April.”
