Ferguson Commission Held 10th Meeting Monday Night

St. Louis, MO (KTRS)  The Ferguson Commission has until June 1st to finalize recommendations on proposed models. That was one of many issues approved by the commission at Monday night’s meeting at the YMCA Carondelet Rec Complex in south St. Louis.
Once those recommendations are finalized, the Commission would use the month of June to prioritize those recommendations, and July and August would be used to process the final report.

One of those models involves police training. Commissioner Dan Isom explained that this consists of training police in the areas of tactical, anti-bias, and officer wellness.

Isom outlined the importance of tactical training for police officers : “The tactical piece is important because we know that these skills need to be practiced. We know that these skills need to be reinforced and if you don’t do that, they degrade over time. The importance of tactics is that it gives opportunities for officers to make different decisions. It both protects officers and citizens alike.”

The next meeting of the Ferguson Commission is May eleventh.
