Ferguson Mayor speaks out

Ferguson, MO (KTVI) – Mayor James Knowles of Ferguson is heartbroken his city is now in the national spotlight for the death of Michael Brown and the violence that has followed. Mayor Knowles says he has received death threats as have members of the city council, the police chief and his police officers. He wants the truth to come out about Brown’s death and justice to be served.

Knowles is angry with how the national media are portraying Ferguson as a racially divided community. He’s trying to explain how many people are calling to support his police department in the jobs they do. The mayor fears for the police officers safety and for the safety of their families. Fox 2 reporter Mandy Murphy asked him if any police officers had moved out of the community since the shooting on Saturday. He said no one has left. Mayor Knowles argues the internet is swirling with misinformation and threats. He is not involved in the investigation.
