FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) – The Ferguson street where Michael Brown was shot  and killed by a police officer last summer appears headed for repaving, possibly impacting the mid-road shrine to the late 18-year-old.
Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III  to joined Brown’s father during a news conference Wednesday morning to announce the resurfacing and repaving of Canfield Drive.

That’s where Brown  was shot and killed by then police officer Darren Wilson, touching off often violent protests and a national “Black Lives Matter” movement. Wilson later resigned.

The makeshift memorial to Brown in the middle of Canfield cropped up shortly after Brown’s death and has remained. Knowles has said recently that the city would like it moved.
