Ferguson QuikTrip To Be Transformed Into Jobs Center

St. Louis, MO (KTRS)  The former site of the Ferguson QuikTrip that became a symbol of civil unrest will soon have new life.

During a press conference Monday afternoon, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis joined business and community leaders to announce plans to build a $500,000 jobs center on the site of the burned out structure along West Florissant.

The facility will house the new “Save Our Sons” workforce training program, which has received 1.2 million dollars from St. Louis area companies and organization.

Michael McMillan, president and CEO of the Urban League of St. Louis, says this demonstrates how the community can work together to bring positive change.

The QuikTrip Corporation has donated the property for the project and will pay for the demolition and remediation of the site.

Urban League officials say they hope to have construction underway by the summer.
