Fire Chief Shares Recollection Of 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

St. Louis, MO  (KTRS)  Friday marks the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson describes how much change that tragic day brought to his profession.  “You look at Fair St. Louis. You look at the World Series baseball games…the emphasis that was placed on chemical, biological, and radiation support at these venues just ten-folded and that required a lot of training, a lot of money to be spent for equipment necessary to make sure that we were providing to the best of our abilities and to best needs that we could have. We had to protect the people who were coming to these venues.”

The St. Louis Fire Department will hold a candlelight vigil at 8 ‘clock tonight at Tucker Park in downtown St. Louis.

In addition, a remembrance ceremony will be held at Kirkwood Park on Friday. The ceremony will begin at 10:28 a.m., the time when the north World Trade Center Tower collapsed.
