Flooding Putting A Damper On Holiday Activities At Some Missouri Parks

Kansas City, Mo. (KTRS) – Flooding is to blame for the closing of  nearly a dozen Missouri parks in some areas for the Fourth of July weekend.

At the Lake of the Ozarks State Park, rising lake levels have shuttered some camping areas, two marinas, a boat ramp, two fishing docks, Ozark Caverns and a trail.

Missouri State Parks officials say flooding has also shut down beaches at Harry S. Truman, Mark Twain, Pomme de Terre and Watkins Woolen Mill State Parks. At Cuivre River State Park, a road between the visitor center and the campground entrance is closed because of flash flooding last month. The campground is still accessible through a back entrance.

Closures to day-use areas and trails also have been reported at Washington, Robertsville, Ha Ha Tonka, Knob Noster and Crowder State Parks.
