The law takes effect immediately
(KTRS/AP) – The Happy Hour is back in Illinois. Since the late 1980’s discounted drink specials have been banned–supporters of the ban worried about excessive drinking and drunk driving.
The measure that Governor Bruce Rauner signed Wednesday allows the drink specials for up to four hours a day and a total of 15 hours a week. “Two drinks for the price of one” specials are still illegal and happy hours must be done by 10 PM.
Supporters of the change say it will allow the state and local governments to collect more tax revenue. The law takes effect immediately.
