Local company’s coffee cup sleeves pose fire risk

St. Louis, MO (KTRS) – A local coffee shop is recalling paper sleeves that fit over coffee cups because they can ignite is used in a microwave.

The Post-Dispatch reports that Kaldi’s is recalling 700,000 of the cup sleeves that came with 12 and 16-ounce drinks that were sold between February 2014 and March of this year. The black disposable sleeves have “Kaldi’s Coffee” and its logo printed on the front and “100% Recycled Paperboard” printed on the back.

No injuries have been linked to the issue, but two fires have been reported. Any customers who still have the sleeves should throw them away.
