Local Fast Food Workers Protest Over Safety Hazards On The Job

St. Louis, MO (KTRS)  Local fast food workers are speaking out about safety hazards in the workplace. On Tuesday  afternoon a group of workers demonstrated outside of a Central West End McDonald’s on Lindell to voice their concerns.

Charles Chestnut  said he burned his arm while working at a fast food restuarant.  “When I burned my arm, they didn’t have me fill out no incident report or anything like that, cuz I didn’t know that at the time. They just told me to put mustard on it and I didn’t want to put mustard on it cuz I’m like mustard…. I never put mustard on my arm. So I went to Walgreens on my break and went and got burn cream and had to bandage up my arm myself. No time off. No none of that.”

Chestnut showed the scar on his arm from the burn during the demonstration.

This comes after the National Coalition for Occupational Health and Safety released a report on Monday, which found that 79-percent of fast-food workers across the country claim that they have been burned on the job in the past year, most repeatedly.
