LU Breaks Ground On $21 Million Library And Resources Center

St. Charles, MO (KTRS)  Construction is underway for a new library and academic resources center on the St. Charles campus of Lindenwood University. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday afternoon for the $21-million project.

University President Dr. James Evans calls this development a bench mark for Lindenwood’s history:

“This Library and Resources Center will be the essence of the complete college experience in America today. Students and faculty members will populate it constantly. It will have long hours of operation. There will be classes and seminars going on inside it…always. There will be a diversity of cultures clearly present in this building from all over the world.”

The groundbreaking ceremony also marked the last public ceremony for  Evans, who is retiring at the end of May after nine years on the job and 40 years at the university.

The Library and Academic Resources Center  will replace the 36,000-square-foot Margaret Leggat Butler Library, which was built in 1929.  It’s expected to be completed by the latter part of 2016. Million
