Major Case Squad called to investigate murder in Cahokia

Cahokia, IL (KTRS) – Police in the metro east are investigating the murder of a Cahokia woman in her home in the 100 block of Kenneth Street.

The Major Case Squad has been activated and Illinois State Police Crime Investigators are on the scene processing evidence. A screen from one of the windows of the home was pulled off.  According to the Belleville News Democrat, Police Chief James Jones said authorities received a call early this morning reporting a home invasion. When police arrived, they found a female victim who had been shot. She was taken to Touchette Hospital, where she died.

The victim is said to be in her 40′s. Chief Jones said the victim’s two children, believed to be in their teens, were at home at the time of the shooting. Police have not recovered a weapon, nor do they have suspects or a motive.
