ST. LOUIS (AP) – St. Louis’ mayor is making his latest push to lure a federal spy agency’s new 3,100-employee regional headquarters, insisting that losing the agency “would be a devastating blow to our city’s economy.”

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Francis Slay has sent to the federal government a briefing book pressing an economic and social case for St. Louis landing the $1.6 billion National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency campus.

The Army Corp. of Engineers is expected to soon release environmental reviews of four St. Louis area sites vying for the project.

The defense and intelligence agency also is considering two St. Louis County sites and a land tract adjacent to Scott Air Force Base in southwestern Illinois.

The little-known agency looks to move from its St. Louis location near the Anheuser-Busch brewery.
