MetroLink Robber Admits Crime, Avoids Jail

(St. Clair)-KTRS

Deavonie Reynolds admitted his crime. The 25 year old East St. Louisan said he went up to a 22 year old man on the platform of the MetroLink Memorial Hospital stop in April and told the victim he had a gun.

Reynolds told the man to hand over his cell phone and wallet. The two struggled but Reynolds fled without taking the man’s possessions.

The 22 year old victim was not hurt and Reynolds was eventually arrested and charged with two felony counts of attempted theft.

Prosecutors say the robber never displayed a weapon but St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly said Reynolds was charged with felony counts because the victim believed Reynolds had a weapon and feared for his life.

Reynolds pleaded guilty to both felony theft charges. Yesterday he was sentenced to 2 years probation.
