(KTRS) – The flags on official buildings in Dent County, Missouri will fly below half-staff starting later this month.

The Salem News reports that the county commission voted unanimously to lower the flags in “mourning” over the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize gay marriage. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles filed a public letter that said anyone who sees the lowered flags will be reminded of what he calls the “Supreme Court travesty”.

The three county commissioners voted unanimously to lower the flags until June 26, 2016. The county seat in Salem is just over 40 miles southeast of Fort Leonard Wood.
