Boone County prosecutors had been seeking three consecutive life sentences
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) – A judge has sentenced a Boone County man to more than 100 years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman.
Scott Peoples was convicted earlier of first-degree domestic assault, kidnapping and first-degree sodomy in the March 2014 attack.
Prosecutors said Peoples kidnapped the woman, took her to a vacant house where he assaulted her before a several-hour standoff with authorities that ended in Peoples’ arrest.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that Boone County circuit Judge Kevin Crane on Monday sentenced Peoples as a persistent offender to 30 years each for assault and kidnapping and 50 years for sodomy. The judge ordered all counts served consecutively.
Boone County prosecutors had been seeking three consecutive life sentences. The public defender sought 10 years on each count.
