WILDWOOD, Mo. (AP) - The St. Louis County town of Wildwood has given first-round approval to an ordinance requiring decontamination of properties where methamphetamine labs have been found.

Half of the states in the U.S. have passed laws requiring cleanup from meth labs, but not Missouri, even though the state has ranked No. 1 in meth lab seizures every year but one over the past decade.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Wildwood and at least two other St. Louis-area towns - Festus and Crestwood - have passed their own cleanup ordinances. Jefferson County also has a decontamination law.

The Wildwood proposal will become law if approved at a second reading.

FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) - A 22-year-old Farmington, Missouri man is badly burned, and may face criminal charges, after a fire at his apartment was blamed on a methamphetamine lab.

The Daily Journal reports that the fire broke out last week in Farmington. A man in the apartment suffered serious burns to his face and arms.

Witnesses contacted police early Wednesday after seeing burning clothes on the sidewalk and a nude man running from the scene. The man was not found immediately but was eventually tracked down in St. Louis, where he sought treatment at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Inside the burned apartment, police found equipment that appeared to be remnants of a meth lab.

Police are planning to charge the man with first-degree arson.

A St. Louis man faces charges after police say they discovered a 22-month-old in the house where he had a meth lab.

28-year-old Anthony Brady allegedly operated the lab out of his home in the 8500 block of Minnesota. While searching his home, police say they found meth, as well as pseudoephedrine and other items used to make the drug. Authorities also believe the toddler living in the home was exposed to the lab, which contained hazardous and highly flammable chemicals.
