   The winter storm that's expected to blow through Missouri is already causing some schools to cancel classes for Tuesday.  That includes the University of Missouri main campus in Columbia.  

   Monday evening, University officials announced the "full closure of the MU campus."  Only university employees who are "situationally critical" should report for work.  

   Forecasters are predicting up to 8-inches of snowfall in the Columbia, Missouri area.  Gary Ward, interim vice chancellor for administrative services says university officials were concerned because students, faculty and staff would be traveling to and from campus during the heaviest snowfall.  

   Ward says university administrators will decide by 8:00 p.m. Tuesday whether its safe enough to reopen on Wedensday.

   The Confluence Preparatory Academy in downtown St. Louis will be closed Tuesday because of a plumbing problem.  Confluence officials expect repairs to be completed in time for school Wednesday.

   All other confluence charter schools will be in session.

   Students in the Normandy School District are getting an unexpected three-day weekend thanks to a water main that burst near the UMSL campus Thursday.  

   The main has been repaired, but a boil order is in effect for about 2,200 Missouri American water customers.  That includes parts of Bel Ridge, Belle Rive, Bel Nor, Normandy and St. John.  

   As a result, all schools in the Normandy School District will be closed Friday.

   Other schools in the affected area are open, but school leaders are asking students to bring a bottle of drinking water with them. 

   The UMSL campus had shut down on Thursday because of the break, canceling day and evening classes. University officials say even though they are still under a boil order, classes will resume Friday morning.  

   Missouri American officials say they hope to life the boil order Friday afternoon.

Alton Middle School will be closed  Tuesday due to a gas leak.  

   The leak was discovered late Monday morning.  The school was closed and students sent home around 11:00 a.m.

   Ameren crews thought they had contained the leak, but it's turning out to be a little tougher to repair than originally thought.  So classes are cancelled while crews continue to work on it.  

   School officials say the closure is precautionary, since only a small amount of natural gas was detected inside the building.

St. Joachim School closed today

Students at one Washington County school will have Valentines Day off. A broken boiler is forcing officials to cancel classes at St. Joachim School in Old Mines, Missouri Thursday.

The principal says they hope to have repairs completed in time for school on Friday.
