$1 million Powerball ticket sold in south St. Louis County
A Powerball player in the St. Louis area will soon have a fatter wallet. That's because a $1 million winning ticket was sold at a South County liquor store.
While no one won matched all six numbers to win Wednesday's $360 million jackpot, Missouri Lottery officials say a ticket matching all five white balls was sold at Telegraph Liquors in the 5600 block of Telegraph Road. That ticket is worth $1 million.
A $10,000 ticket was also sold at a QuikTrip in Ellisville.
Since there was no big winner Wednesday, the jackpot for Saturday's drawing has increased to an estimated $550 million.
Man shot in South St. Louis County
A man was found shot in South County this afternoon.
Police say the man was found around 12:30 on Old English Road near the River Des Peres. The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
Railroad work will close South County road
The closure will allow crews from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad can make extensive repairs to the crossing.
UPDATE: Reavis Road open again following train derailment
St. Louis County Police say a mechanical problem with a Burlington Northern freight train caused several cars to derail shortly after 8 p.m.
Reavis Road had to be closed between Tesson Ferry and McKenzie in Affton while crews made repairs and got the rail cars back on the track.
There had initially been some concern about a possible leak, but officials say all of the affected cars were empty. And no one was injured.
Officials expect to have Reavis Road back open by 7:00 a.m.
Man allegedly asked for sexual favors from girls after giving them ride home
Police say Samwell Fowler asked the girls if they needed a ride home from the South County Mall on the night of March 8. But when they approached the girls' house, Fowler allegedly drove into an alley, locked the doors, and asked the girls for sexual favors. The girls were able to unlock the doors and escape.
The teenage girl told a police officer at her school, and Fowler was found, arrested, and charged with enticement of a minor.
Man detonates device outside South County business

An explosion rocked a South County neighborhood this week. St. Louis County police now say they have a suspect in custody.
Police responded to a blast on Tesson Ferry in Sappington Wednesday night after people reported damaged. The suspect allegedly placed the explosive device outside of an Avon store, then walked into a nearby bar.
Police say the man resisted arrest, but was taken into custody. No motive has been announced.
