St. Louis receives Olympic bid invitation

The United States Olympic Committee has invited St. Louis and 34 other cities to bid for the 2024 summer games. It's an expensive longshot -- the USOC says the bid process alone costs more than $10 million. St. Louis was the site of the 1904 Olympics.

Trout season kicks off in Missouri

With Governor Jay Nixon in attendance, the opening of Missouri's catch-and-keep trout season kicked off Friday morning at sunrise at Montauk state park as well as Bennett Spring State Park, Roaring River State Park and Meramec Spring. The four state parks will be stocked with more than 25,000 trout. About 8,600 anglers are expected today with some coming from as far away as Miami Florida.

Fat Cat needs home

A St. Louis-area animal shelter is looking for a home for a really fat cat. Biscuit tips the scales at 37 pounds, which is more than two-and-a-half times the size of a normal cat. The St. Charles Animal Control shelter has already put the morbidly obese feline on a diet, but workers there say he needs an owner who will closely monitor what he eats.
