KMOV to be sold to Meredith Corporation

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Media and marketing company Meredith Corp. says it is buying television stations in Phoenix and St. Louis from Gannett Co. and Sander Media.
 
Meredith, the publisher of Better Homes and Gardens and other leading women's magazines, also owns 13 television stations in the United States.
 
The acquisition includes in Phoenix, independent station KTVK, and KASW, a CW affiliate which will be purchased by a third party but Meredith will provide services for its operation. Also included is KMOV, a CBS affiliate in St. Louis.
 
The cash transaction will cost Meredith $407 million. The stations are part of Gannett's recent acquisition of Belo Corp.
 
Des Moines-based Meredith says it expects the stations to generate between $105 million and $115 million in revenue in the first full year.

Americans get another day to sign up for healthcare

Consumers shopping for health insurance on the exchanges are getting another reprieve from the Federal Government.

 

Anyone looking to start coverage on January 1 was supposed to sign up by tonight. Regulators extended the deadline for people to enroll until the end of Christmas Eve.

 

In Missouri 16 percent of residents under the age of 65 are uninsured. 

Frequent fliers asked to donate unused miles

Air travelers who have compiled significant frequent-flyer miles are being urged to consider donating those miles to injured soldiers and their families for the holidays.

 

Since 2005, Operation Hero Miles has issued more than 40,000 donated tickets. The Fisher House Foundation that manages the program says it has saved military families nearly $63 million in ticket costs over the years.
