Akin's "legitimate rape" remark featured in TV drama
Wednesday night's episode of Law & Order's SVU features a female sports reporter who is raped by a co-worker, becomes pregnant, but decides to keep the child.
You may recall Akin's comments on rape and abortion during his run for US Senate were made in an interview with Fox 2's Charles Jaco. Akin says,"First of all, from what I understand from doctors, if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
The television show promo announces, "Ripped from the headlines, words that set off a national controversy..."
The episode features the rapist being tried for the crime. An "expert" witness is then seen uttering Akin's comment.
The episode airs Wednesday night at 8 on KSDK Channel 5(NBC).
