The Wentzville Fire Protection District board won't say what's behind it, but four senior officers are no longer with the department. Three of them, including Fire Chief Randy Bornhop, had been placed on leave three months ago.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Bornhop has now resigned. Assistant Chief Robb Watkins has been fired. Fire Marshal Joseph Heitkamp is on indefinite unpaid leave. And a fourth official, Fire Inspector Chris Newbold has also been laid off.
The leadership of the fire district has been in limbo since May when Bornhop, Watkins and Heitkamp were first placed on paid administrative leave.
Schools in Wentzville are back to normal operations.
Earlier Wednesday afternoon the schools all went on "tightened security". Police initially said the schools were on lockdown, but students were allowed to move from class to class inside the buildings.
Just after 2PM the all clear was given.
Police say there was never a problem at the schools, but an issue in a neighborhood near the school.
DALLAS (AP) - A hotel guest from Missouri has been found dead in the atrium lobby of the 30-story Hyatt Regency Dallas after apparently falling from an upper floor.
Dallas police say a hotel security guard early Wednesday discovered the body of 37-year-old Craig McKinnon Berry of Wentzville, Mo. A police report says a hotel employee heard a loud thud and contacted security.
A hotel spokesman says the guest apparently fell from one of the upper floors. The downtown Dallas hotel's interior atrium has 18 stories.
Police are investigating the incident as an unexplained death. Further details weren't immediately available.
There's no word if the pipe will be fixed in time for class on Wednesday.
