The reward for information on who burned a dog that was found last month is higher.

Zeus was a pit bull. He was found with third-degree burns on over three-quarters of his body. Veterinarians determined his injuries were so severe that they were forced to euthanize him. The Humane Society has increased the reward from $2,500 to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Zeus' owner reported the dog missing from his Jennings home. Authorities found the dog badly burned in a neighbor's back yard.

Earlier this summer, a St. Louis woman was charged with felony animal abuse for setting a dog on fire and bragging about it on Facebook. That dog also died.

Justin Deryke says he was just trying to put his 7-year-old niece "out of her misery" when he killed her over the weekend.

Officials say autopsy results contradict his story. Deryke claims he was watching a movie with Willow Long over the weekend when she allegedly scratched his arm. He became angry and chased Willow out of the house. He says she fell into a brush pile and a branch stabbed her in the neck. That is when Deryke says he got a knife and stabbed the girl to death.

The autopsy shows Willow had defensive wounds on her hands and that casts doubt on Deryke's story.

Willow's 3-year-old brother has been taken into protective custody.

Charges are filed against two men who allegedly broke into a woman's home on Tuesday.

Police say Terrill Wise and Jahon Anderson kicked down the door of the woman's home on Lafayette near I-44. The woman grabbed her one-year-old child and hid in a shower in the upstairs bathroom. The mother says she heard the suspects moving throughout her home and one even came into the bathroom but did not see her. The woman called 911 and when an officer arrived, he confronted the suspects.

The officer says a suspect attacked him and that is when he shot the man. Other officers responded to the scene and both suspects were captured. Wise and Anderson now face multiple felony charges.

The woman and her child were not hurt.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A rural Missouri man charged with infecting another man with HIV is now facing charges that accuse him of risking infection to three other partners.

Stoddard County prosecutor Russell Oliver said Friday that 36-year-old David Mangum of Dexter, Missouri is now facing 21 additional counts for having unprotected sex with three men without telling them he was HIV-positive.

Mangum is jailed without bond. His attorney did not respond to interview requests.

Mangum was arrested last month after a man with whom he'd been intimate tested positive and alerted police. The new counts are a lesser charge because the new accusers are not HIV-positive.

Mangum claims he had sexual contact with as many as 300 people since being diagnosed a decade ago. He moved to Missouri two years ago from Dallas, Texas.
