SWAT has suspect surrounded in Jennings home

The standoff in Jennings is over after the suspect surrendered to police.

The standoff, in the 5200 block of Hamilton, lasted from around 9 AM until noon. Officers were trying to arrest the suspect, who was wanted for a robbery in Chesterfield, when he ran off. The man barricaded himself inside a house. The St. Louis County Tactical team was called in.

A negotiator was able to talk the suspect out of home. He surrendered to police without incident.

The Jennings post office in the 9800 block of New Halls Ferry Road is closed indefinitely after a car crashed through it, injuring two women.

It happened about 11:30 Monday morning.  The car plowed through the lobby, then crashed through an interior wall and into a work area.  It's not yet known what caused the crash.

Postal officials say mail that would normally go to the Jennings post office will instead be delivered to the Garden Post Office in the 8300 block of North Broadway.

A Jennings woman is in serious but stable condition after she crashed her car into a north city apartment building Thursday night. It happened just before midnight at Martin Luther King and Burd.

The crash punched a hole in the Arlington Grove Jeffery L. Boyd building. Crews spent most of Friday morning cleaning up the mess.

St.Louis police say the 33 year old woman had been speeding, blowing through two stop signs along Dr. King,  before swerving to avoid a stopped car.  That's when she lost control, hit two stop signs, a light pole and a metal trash can before crashing into the building.

Police say no one inside the building was hurt.

Two men charged in Jennings homicide

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Two men have been arrested in the death of a 27-year-old man who was found shot inside a Jennings home. St. Louis County police said Sean M. Hutchinson was fatally shot Thursday.

Prosecutors have charged with 25-year-old Anthony Primm and 24-year-old Bernard Eric Wilson III with second-degree murder and first-degree burglary. Both are being held in St. Louis County Jail on $500,000 cash bail. Online court records don't list lawyers for either men.

Prosecutors claim Primm entered the home through an attic vent and is accused of taking various items from the home when Hutchinson was shot.
