HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Recordings of 911 calls from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting show town dispatchers calmly responding to a janitor, a teacher and others and assuring them help is coming.
The operators urge the people inside the school to take cover as they reach out to town officials and state police for help. The operators also ask about the welfare of the children.
A gunman shot his way into the school on the morning of Dec. 14 and gunned down 20 children and six educators with a semi-automatic rifle. He committed suicide as police arrived.
The calls to Newtown police were posted Wednesday on a town website. A court ordered the release of the tapes last week, despite the objections of prosecutors, after a legal challenge by The Associated Press.

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) - Adam Lanza may have hinted at his deadly plans online in the days before last year's Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
In documents that were part of a report released Monday, authorities say a Texas woman contacted Hartford police the day of the Dec. 14 attack to say her son had interacted with someone while playing a videogame 20 hours earlier who said there would be a school shooting.
It isn't clear whether she contacted authorities before or after the massacre.
Two days before the shooting, an anonymous user posted comments online saying that they planned to commit suicide Dec. 14 and that it would make national news. The poster said they lived in Connecticut.
The information came from an application for a search warrant for Lanza's computer. Authorities say that the computer's hard drive had been smashed and that nothing usable was obtained.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A report on the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre indicates that nearly six minutes passed between the arrival of the first Newtown police officer and the time local officers entered the school.
A timeline released with the report Monday says the first officer arrived behind the school at 9:39 a.m. after the shooting was reported. Two other Newtown officers then arrived at the school, and gunshots were heard in the background.
The last gunshot officers heard, which is believed to be the suicide shot by gunman Adam Lanza, was heard at three seconds past 9:40.
The report says Newtown officers entered the school at 47 seconds past 9:44.
Prosecutor Stephen Sedensky III wrote in the report that law enforcement officers were operating under the belief there may have been more than one shooter.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A pair of New Mexico state police officers are under investigation and a mother and her 14-year-old son are facing charges after a routine traffic stop turned to chaos with the teen physically confronting one officer and another firing shots at a minivan carrying children.
Details of the recent stop emerged when KRQE-TV obtained dashboard camera video of the police cruiser that pulled the family of six over for speeding near the northern New Mexico tourist town of Taos.
The Oct. 28 footage showed driver Oriana Farrell disobey the officer's orders and drive off during the stop.
The 39-year-old Tennessee mother was pulled over again and the video shows two of her five children get out of the vehicle to confront the officer.
The mother and teenage son were arrested after a brief chase. She has since been released. It's unclear whether her son remains in custody.
Farrell's attorney didn't immediately return a call.
