East St. Louis mother stabbed

Police are searching for the boyfriend of a young mother who was murdered in East St. Louis.  Police say 25-year-old Montrell Cooper is wanted for questioning in the stabbing death of 25-year-old Michelle Rowling.  Rowling was found dead Saturday night inside her apartment at the Gomper's Housing Complex. Cooper has  been arrested for assaulting Rowling in the past, including a 2012 conviction for stabbing her.  Friends say Rowling had recently expressed concern for her safety, posting a message on Facebook saying if anything should happen to her, she wanted friends to tell her children and her mother that she loved them.

One dead, three hurt in north St. Louis crash

One person is dead and three others critically hurt after a car accident in north St. Louis this morning. It happened at Kingshighway and Lexington just before five o'clock. According to reports at the scene, the car was going south on Kingshighway when it may have clipped a curb. Then, when the driver tried to overcompensate, the car flipped over. Three people were ejected from the vehicle. The survivors were taken to the hospital in critical condition. They have so far only been identified as males between the ages of 20 and 30. Accident reconstruction crews are at the scene. Kingshighway and Lexington remains shut down. 

Deer hunting starts in Illinois

Hunters, get your guns. It's deer hunting season in Illinois. The annual firearm hunting season starts today and runs through Sunday. Then it picks up again for another four days between Dec. 5 and Dec. 8. Bow hunting season runs much longer. According to the Department of Natural Resources, the number of deer killed last year with bows and firearms was about 180,000. The highest density of deer in Illinois are typically in the woods along the watersheds of the Mississippi, Rock, Illinois and Kaskaskia rivers and in the Shawnee Hills in Southern Illinois. Hunters can give the deer to the IDNR for donation to food pantries around the state.
