Local company offering free rides home tonight

Wednesday, 27 November 2013 11:43 Published in Local News

Tonight is not just Thanksgiving Eve, it is also one of the biggest party and bar nights of the entire year.

So one Missouri company is hoping to keep it a safe holiday for revelers.  ScooterGuy is a designated driving service in St. Louis and Kansas City and they will provide free rides home tonight  from 5 pm to 3 am.

Here’s how it works. ScooterGuy teams meet their client at the requested pickup location. The driver, who is fully insured, will give their client a ride home in the the client's own car. The ScooterGuy driver will be picked up by another team member so the customer AND their car arrive home safely.

Last year, ScooterGuy gave more than 100 free rides on Thanksgiving Eve and over 400 rides during the entire holiday weekend.

Police are search for a man after a high speed chase ended when the suspect ditched his car in downtown St. Louis.

The chase started in Illinois when officers tried to stop a speeder. KMOV reports police had to stop the pursuit because it was too dangerous. Officers in another area spotted the speeder though and the chase started again. Police followed the man to a parking garage at 13th Street and St. Charles. That is when the suspect bailed from the car. Police are now searching the area for the man.

The suspect is described as a white man, five-and-a-half feet tall and weighing about 155 pounds. He was seen wearing a dark hooded sweater and light grey or blue pants.

South County Residents complain of smelly tap water

Tuesday, 26 November 2013 16:47 Published in Local News

Some residents in South St. Louis County have been complaining that their tap water has a bad smell or taste.

American Water says the problem is a seasonal one. They attribute it to the cold top layer of a lake or river sinking to the bottom while the warmer water rises--the action causes a smell or bitter taste. Company officials say the problem should be resolved this week.

In the mean time, the water is safe to drink and use.
