IDOT is hoping the third time is a charm as they have the McKinley Bridge scheduled to be closed, starting tonight.

The work to seal the deck of the bridge has been delayed twice before this weekend. The span will close at 9 PM tonight and should reopen by 5 AM on Monday. The work was previously postponed due to high flood waters and rain in the forecast.

IDOT postpones work on McKinley Bridge

A sigh of relief from Illinois drivers. IDOT has postponed this weekend's planned closure of the McKinley Bridge.

Crews were set to clean and seal the bridge. IDOT said they delayed the work because of the possibility of rain. The work has been rescheduled for the weekend of July 12, but that is work is dependent on weather.

This is the second time work has been delayed--it was originally scheduled for the weekend of the Komen Race for the Cure.

IDOT postpones work on McKinley Bridge

Flooding is forcing the Illinois Department of Transportation to postpone planned work on the McKinley Bridge.

The original closure was scheduled to start tonight and run through the weekend, but the water is to high to complete the work safely. IDOT says the new start date is June 28, weather permitting.
