Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey now featured in comic book
St. Louis native Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter and Square, can now add comic book superhero to his resume.
The St Louis Business Journal reports Dorsey is the latest in a series of celebrities and technology entrepreneurs to be featured in a comic book biography published by Bluewater Productions. The company is behind comic books that retell the story of The Beatles, Lady Gaga and President Barack Obama’s dog Bo Obama.
The comic book on sale today features a billionaire bachelor who gets a Tweet at a San Francisco cheese expo that ultimately leads to a battle with the forces of evil to save the world from a mad scientist. St. Louis and the Arch are featured in the story line.
Comic Flea Market is selling the book for $3.99 or online on iTunes, Nook, Amazon and other digital outlets for $1.99.
CBS Twitter feeds suspended
NEW YORK (AP) — The Twitter accounts for two national CBS programs have been compromised and suspended.
A CBS News spokeswoman confirms Saturday that tweets sent earlier in the afternoon from the "60 Minutes" and "48 Hours" Twitter handles saying their accounts were compromised are correct.
The tweets said the network is working with Twitter to investigate. On Saturday night both accounts were suspended and inaccessible.
Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The CBS spokeswoman didn't comment further.
Earlier in the day tweets coming from the 60 Minutes account seemed farfetched, including one that claimed the US government was "hiding the real culprit of the Boston bombing."
Dick Van Dyke health mystery - he asks public for help solving
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dick Van Dyke is seeing doctors for an undiagnosed health problem, and he's seeking advice online as well.
"My head bangs every time I lay down," the 87-year-old actor posted on his Twitter account. "I've had every test come back that I'm perfectly healthy. Anybody got any ideas?"
Bob Palmer, a spokesman for Van Dyke, said Thursday that he's undergoing tests for "cranial throbbing" that's causing him to lose sleep. The sensation occurs when Van Dyke lies down, and scans and other tests have yet to yield a diagnosis, Palmer said.
Van Dyke drew a number of responses to his tweet for help Wednesday, including questions about what's been done so far for the problem he described as stubborn.
"It has been going on for 7 years. I've had every test you can think of," he replied, including an MRI and spinal tap.
Van Dyke has a strong constitution and is otherwise OK, but the "fatigue factor has become acute," Palmer said. Until he receives a diagnosis and treatment plan he's been advised not to fly, and is resting at his Malibu home.
He was to accept an award next week from New York's 92nd Street Y but canceled the trip.
Van Dyke's credits include "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "Diagnosis Murder."
Regions Bank uses twitter to alert customers of cyber attack
Regions Bank is the target of a cyber attack. The bank used social media to alert customers by tweeting yesterday saying, "We are currently under cyber attack and our website and online banking are experiencing issues."
Evelyn Mitchell, corporate communications spokesperson, told KSDK-TV that "Regions is aware of a potential Internet service disruption that may temporarily impact our customers' ability to access our website or use our online banking service." She said no customer information can be accessed or compromised.
On Tuesday, Midwest BankCentre reported it had identified 109 loan applicants who had personal information exposed as a result of a security breach.
MidwestCentre Bank officials say they're in the process of contacting the affected individuals by phone or overnight mail to provide them with enrollment details for one free year of the LifeLock Ultimate service. The Secret Service and the FBI investigations into the data breach are ongoing.
Eleven St. Charles West High students suspended over Twitter fight
Eleven St. Charles West High School students are suspended for their involvement in a brawl Friday that began on Twitter. Superintendent Jeff Marion says some male students exchanged words with some male students from the Ferguson-Florissant School District using the social networking site.
Two St. Charles students helped orchestrate the brawl, and let four teens who were not students in the district into the building just as classes were dismissing for the day. Six teens were arrested after the fight. Of the 11 suspended Monday, six were female; all the students were ages 15 to 17.
