Police say a Collinsville man was drunk when he caused an accident that killed five people.
The accident happened on November 23rd just before 10:30 in Hamilton County. Of the six people involved in the crash, driver Darrell Delong was the only survivor. Delong faces multiple charges including aggravated DUI and reckless homicide.
Police say Delong lost control of a his SUV and it rolled over several times.
Police have identified the pedestrian who was hit and killed in the Central West End Thursday morning.
Police say 63-year-old Nancy Benson was crossing the road when she was hit by a driver just before 7 AM. The driver stayed on the scene of the accident. He told police he did not see Benson because the weather was bad and she was wearing dark clothes.
Benson was not in a crosswalk when she was hit. Police continue to investigate the accident.
Police officers were not able to save two people from a fiery crash over the weekend.
The single-car accident happened on I-170 on Sunday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Nicholas Nelson's car left the road, hit a median cable and sign, then flipped over and caught fire. An off-duty St. Louis County police officer and Berkley officers tried to put out the fire and rescue the occupants, but failed.
Nelson and passenger Ilana Elbert both died.
An early morning accident leaves a woman and two children dead.
Around 5:30 Friday morning, a cargo van crashed into a Chevy Impala on Interstate 55 near Litchfield, Illinois. Investigators say it appears the Chevy was either stopped or moving very slowly when the accident occurred. A woman sitting in the front seat of the car was killed and two kids in the back seat of the car died as well. Two other children were taken to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.
The driver of the van was not injured.]]>
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Three people have been killed and two critically injured in a fiery rollover accident in St. Louis.
The Post-Dispatch reports that the accident happened early Saturday. St. Louis police identified the driver as 43-year-old Lydell Templeton of St. Louis. The identities of the other victims weren't immediately released.
Police say Templeton was speeding on Interstate 64 when he lost control of his vehicle. The car collided with the median wall and overturned several times before catching fire.
Four of the five occupants were thrown from the vehicle.
