Crews are exhuming the body of a young girl was was found decapitated 30 years ago.

The girl was never identified and goes by Jane Doe, as well as Hope. She was found in a vacant building in 1983, with her hands tied behind her back. Hope was buried in the Washington Park Cemetery in Berkeley, but is has become run down.

They are moving her body to the “Garden of Innocents” in Calvary Cemetery on West Florissant Rd. in north St. Louis.

Washington University researchers used old photographs to find the girl's burial place.

A Granite City man faces charges for allegedly stabbing his estranged wife to death.

The Police report says that Marissa Stainback was walking with a male friend yesterday afternoon when Tyrone Stainback approached her and stabbed her. Marissa was rushed to the hospital, but the Madison County Coroner confirmed she died from several stab wounds.

Tyrone is being held on no bond and faces 1st degree murder charges.

St. Louis Police are asking for help to identify a possible witness and the suspect in the fatal shooting of a 7-11 worker. 30-year-old Buhtanese refugee Mon Rai was killed on Monday at his job.

The witness is described as a black man about 5'10" with a medium length afro.

The suspect has a light complexion and is just over 5-and-a-half feet tall. The suspect's face was mostly obstructed--he was wearing a black ski mask and ski jacket. Police say the suspect's jacket is important--they believe it is unique.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - Two people were found dead in a burned home near Santa Monica College, where someone sprayed a street corner with gunfire just before noon, wounding at least four people.

The Los Angeles-area campus is about 3 miles from where President Barack Obama was attending a fundraising luncheon, just before noon.

Police said a shooter was in custody and the campus was being searched after unconfirmed reports that there was a second shooter.

A man dressed in black, with the words "Life is a Gamble" on the back of his sweatshirt, was seen being taken into custody by law enforcement officers.

Four shooting victims were admitted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. A hospital spokesman says two were in critical condition, one was in serious condition, and one was in good condition.

CAPE GIRAREAU, Mo. (AP) - A Cape Girardeau man is facing two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his wife and son.

The Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney said George Edwin Joseph was charged with murdering his wife, 57-year-old Mary Joseph, and 18-year-old son, Matthew Joseph, while they slept May 30.

Joseph was hospitalized after the shooting with a gunshot wound to the head.

The Southeast Missourian reports a probable cause statement said Joseph was depressed and facing "significant financial issues" that affected several other individuals. Police say Joseph told them he shot his wife and son so they would not face the shame of financial ruin.

Joseph is in custody on a $5 million cash-only bond.

In an emotionally charged courtroom, Clay Waller told the judge he killed his wife Jacque Waller two years ago.

Now Waller is headed to prison to serve a 20 year sentence. As part of a plea deal, Waller told authorities where he buried his wife's body. He explained how he punched her in the face then strangled her to death.

Jacque's sister, Cheryl Brenneke, read a statement that saying she is unhappy with the sentence, but knows he will get "jailhouse justice". The judge accepted the deal and said Waller did not get what he deserved, but it will have to do.

Officials say he could serve as little as 85 percent of the sentence, but it is not likely.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - A lawyer says a southeast Missouri man will plead guilty to killing his estranged wife, a mother of triplets.

Public defender Christopher Davis told The Associated Press that Clay Waller will confess to killing 39-year-old Jacque Waller at a Thursday hearing. Jacque Waller's body was found on a Mississippi River island May 29.

Davis would not say Wednesday whether Clay Waller led police to his wife's body. She had been missing since June 1, 2011, the same day the couple met with a divorce lawyer. Police said they had been living apart for about three months and had financial problems.

Waller was charged last year with first-degree murder, even though his wife's body had not been found at that time. He pleaded not guilty at the time.

A guilty plea is expected when Clay Waller appears in court this week. Waller is accused of murdering his wife, Jacque Waller. She went missing after telling people she was going to meet with her estranged husband in 2011. Search teams found her body last week across the river from Cape Girardeau. Clay Waller is already in prison for harassing Jacque's sister. If he submits the anticipated plea, the next step would be setting a sentencing date. The couple's triplets are now seven years old and live with Jacque's sister.

CHESTER, Ill. (AP) - A southern Illinois judge has ordered a mental evaluation of a man accused of setting a house fire that killed four children.

The mental fitness examination for 33-year-old Derrick Twardoski was requested Monday by James Kelley, his Randolph County public defender.

A hearing on the testing's outcome is scheduled for June 20.

Twardoski has pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder in the May 10 deaths in Percy, a village about 60 miles southeast of St. Louis. The fire killed siblings ages 12, 9 and 5-year-old twins.

The county's state's attorney, Jeremy Walker, has said he doesn't consider the fire random. Although he's declined to say why authorities suspect Twardoski set it or whether Twardoski knew anyone who lived in the home.

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - A jury has found a 34-year-old man guilty of first-degree murder in the beating deaths of five of his ex-wife's relatives in central Illinois.

The verdict in the trial of Christopher Harris was announced Friday.

In sometimes tearful testimony, Harris admitted to killing 14-year-old Dillen Constant. But Harris said he did so only after the teenager bashed the rest of his family to death at their home in Beason in September 2009.

Harris was also accused in the deaths of Dillen's mother, Ruth Gee; his stepfather, Rick Gee; his 16-year-old sister, Justina Constant; and 11-year-old stepbrother Austin Gee.

Harris' brother, Jason Harris, testified that Christopher Harris told him he killed all five victims after a night of drinking and drug use.
