An investigation into another overnight smash and grab burglary is underway.
This time the crime happened in west St. Louis city. Police say that around 4:30 this morning, suspects smashed the front window of the Palomino Lounge in the 5800 block of Delmar. The thieves made off with some liquor, a flat screen TV, and money from the cash register.
No information on the suspects has been released.
Police will not say if there is any connection between two smash and grab burglaries that were discovered this morning.
The first occurred at 4:30 AM when a group of thieves drove a pickup truck through the front of Sam Light Loans at the corner of Olive and Jefferson. The criminals left the truck in the building, then drove off in another pickup.
Just over an hour later a similar truck drove through the front of a north county Stop and Shop. Authorities said items were taken from the store. The truck used in that crime was found several blocks away and had been reported stolen.
These are the latest two smash-and-grab crimes reported in recent months.
A Belleville clothing store is the latest target of a smash and grab. This happened around 4:30 this morning at Hays Top Style clothing on West Main at North 95th.
The front window was smashed. A witness saw someone leaving in a full size maroon vehicle heading west on Main.
Police are looking for a suspect in an early morning smash and grab at Fenton Pawn Store. The burglary happened just after 1 am in the 400 block of Gravois in Fenton.
Fenton police say they found a broken glass door into the store. They also discovered two display cases that had been smashed and looted of their merchandise.
KSDK Newschannel 5 reports the owner says estimated a total in excess of $15,000.00 in gold chains and assorted gold jewelry was stolen in the break-in.
A surveillance tape shows the bandit wearing a nylon mask and smashing his way into the store and into the glass cases where the valuables were stored. Police say the suspect is a light skinned male wearing blue shorts and a long-sleeve blue shirt.
St. Louis County cell phone retailers are invited to a cell phone theft forum tomorrow.
The St. Louis County Police Department is holding the event in response to the recent string of smash-and-grab store robberies. Retailers are invited to attend Thursday at 4PM in the Grace Union Church in the 3900 block of Union.
A Macintosh reseller has been the target of a smash and grab robbery again.
Police say thieves drove a white pickup truck through the front door of the Mac HQ store on Manchester Road. The thieves made off with several boxes of merchandise. The truck was found just a few blocks away--it had been reported stolen.
The Mac HQ store has been robbed four times in just the past few months, most recently on May 16. No word on any suspects in the case.
