One person is dead and three others injured after a shooting in Berkeley yesterday on Tuesday. Police say it began about 2 p.m. as an argument between three people in a car and a man at the Madelaine Manor apartment complex. That argument escalated. Shots were fired and all four people were hit. The three victims in the car tried to drive to the hospital, but were pulled over by police on McDonnell Boulevard near Boeing. All four victims were taken to the hospital in serious condition. One later died. Berkeley Police Chief Frank McCall, Junior says charges are expected against the three survivors.
It's another case of an apparent smash-and-grab burglary, this time at a north county jewelry store. Police say a stolen SUV was used to smash into Legacy Jewelers at New Halls Ferry Road and Lindbergh Boulevard. Police say it happened just before 5:00 this morning. The crime has a similar M.O. to other smash-and-grabs in the area over the past few weeks, with a stolen vehicle being used to crash into a store front, and another car serving as the getaway vehicle. Police have no suspects.
Three people, including a St. Louis police officer are seriously injured after a Volkswagen slammed into a patrol car in Midtown last night. It happened about 9:30 at Washington and Compton. Police say a passenger car with three people inside had been driving erratically earlier in the evening. Police pursued the car, but had to stop to answer another call. A short time later, the car struck a different police car. One person climbed out of the passenger car and ran from the scene. The two other people in the car, and the 35-year-old police officer were all taken to the hospital. All three are listed in serious condition. Police are still looking for the 27-year-old person who fled.
