Traffic stop leads to charges that a KC man lured a 13 yr old girl
Thursday, 07 March 2013 01:35 Published in Local NewsTwenty-one year old Dominique Carter allegedly met a 13 year old girl through a smart-phone dating "app."
Police say he enticed her to send him semi-nude photos, and then pick her up at her St. Peter's home. But a short distance away, he was stopped by police for failing to use a turn signal.
St. Charles County Prosecutor Tim Lomar told Fox 2 News that it was just luck that led to Carter's arrest. "The only way that the officer was able to come into contact with these folks in the first place," Lomar said, "was the fact that the defendant committed a routine traffic violation."
Besides the enticement charge, Carter is also charged with sexual misconduct and child endangerment. He's jailed in St. Charles County on a $50,000 dollar cash-only bond.
Xavier (17-12, 9-6 A-10) ended a long winning streak for the second time in eight days. The Musketeers snapped Memphis' 18-game streak at the Cintas Center last week.
The Billikens (23-6, 12-3) haven't won a share of a conference title since 1970-71 in the Missouri Valley. Their last outright title came in 1956-57. They could have clinched the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament with a win on Wednesday.
Instead, they fell into a first-place tie with No. 21 VCU, which beat Richmond on Wednesday. Saint Louis beat VCU during its 11-game winning streak for the head-to-head advantage.
Saint Louis finishes the season at home against third-place La Salle on Saturday. VCU is at Temple on Sunday.
Ellisville City Council drops some impeachment charges against Mayor
Wednesday, 06 March 2013 23:56 Published in Local NewsLast week, the city council had adopted an 11 page impeachment document that charged Paul with violating the city's charter.
The charges also included swearing and drinking on the job. The council voted Wednesday night to drop those two charges from the impeachment proceedings.
City Attorney Paul Martin says he has evidence that both are true, but has learned that neither is an impeachable offense.
Mayor Paul refutes all of the charges, claiming they all stem from his disagreements with the council over a controversial Walmart TIF.
