JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri House has approved legislation allowing more hydroelectric power to count toward the state's renewable energy requirement.
A 2008 law approved by voters requires investor-owned utilities to use renewable energy sources for gradually increasing amounts of their electricity generation. That law restricted how hydroelectric power could count toward the requirement.
The House bill (HB44) would allow all hydroelectric power produced in Missouri or owned by a Missouri power company to count starting in 2018. Beginning in 2021, hydroelectric power generated elsewhere could count.
The bill cleared the House Thursday on a vote of 95-46 and now goes to the Senate.
Sponsors of the 2008 ballot measure criticized the bill, saying it would reverse possible economic development benefits from the law.

A light dusting of snow has transportation officials monitoring road temperatures and condtions overnight.
St. Louis County and St. Louis City street crews pre-treated the roads Thursday evening in an effort to prevent any morning rush hour surprises. But both MoDOT and IDOT officials decided to wait and monitor. Both transportation departments say they'll adjust as conditions warrant.
At midnight, road temperature sensors were showing the interstates all above freezing. But drivers are being cautioned to use extra care on elevated roadways, ramps and bridges.

"Girls Gone Wild" bankruptcy filing could affect St. Louis lawsuit

A bankruptcy filing this week means a St. Charles County woman who successfully sued the producers of "Girls Gone Wild" videos may never see her court ordered award.
GGW Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Los Angeles Wednesday. The petition listed more than $16 million in disputed claims, including the nearly $6 million a judge awarded to Tamara Favazza in 2010.
Favazza had sued GGW subsidiaries Mantra Films and MRA Holding after she appeared in a "Girls Gone Wild" video. Favazza claimed that in 2004 someone working for the production company had lifted her tank top in front of the camera, and that she hadn't agreed to expose herself for the video. The incident happened at a downtown St. Louis bar.
Favazza’s lawyers are still battling to collect the judgement.
