Two carnival workers involved in fight
TROY, Mo. (AP) - One carnival worker is badly injured and another in jail following an altercation in eastern Missouri.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 25-year-old Clint Carelse of South Africa allegedly got into a fight with the victim late Tuesday at the Troy Fairgrounds in Lincoln County. The 22-year-old victim, also from South Africa was stabbed in the abdomen. He is hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
The two men work for the Southeast Amusement Carnival Co. of Farmland, Ind. Police say they were in Missouri working at a fair in St. Charles County.
Carelse is charged with assault and armed criminal action and jailed on $75,000 cash-only bond.
Murder case resolved 11 years after the crime
ST. LOUIS (AP) - More than 11 years after Mitchell Osburn was arrested in the stabbing deaths of three Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District workers, the case is finally resolved.
Osburn entered an Alford Plea Tuesday to three counts of each of first-degree murder and armed criminal assault. The plea is not an admission of guilt but a concession that there is enough evidence for a conviction.
Sentencing will be July 12.
The three workers in their 40s - Steven Weiss, Joseph Bisso and Robert Whitson - were among five sewer district workers socializing after a day of work at Lion's Park in the St. Louis County town of Valley Park on March 8, 2002.
Police said Osburn attacked them with a knife. He did not know the victims.
12-year-old boy charged in fatal stabbing of 8-year-old sister
VALLEY SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) — The sheriff of Calaveras County in Northern California says residents "can sleep a little better" now.
The community of Valley Springs was shaken last month by the mysterious stabbing death of an 8-year-old girl. The girl's 12-year-old brother told police he found her body and an intruder in their home, setting off a manhunt.
Authorities yesterday arrested the 12-year-old. The sheriff says the boy will be charged with homicide.
UPDATE: Troy, MO standoff ends peacefully
The standoff that started earlier today in Troy, Missouri, has come to a peaceful resolution.
A woman locked herself in a home after allegedly stabbing a man around 4 AM. Officers tried to talk the woman out of her house and KSDK reports that she was taken into custody around 10:30.
Illinois man acquitted in stabbing death of Georgia man
BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A southwestern Illinois jury has acquitted one of four people who had been accused in the 2011 stabbing death of a Georgia man.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that 39-year-old Christopher Mays of Caseyville was found not guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder and felony murder.

Authorities say 38-year-old Melvin Gregory moved to the area from Conyers, Ga., to live with his girlfriend. After those two got into an altercation that involved Mays and two other defendants, Gregory's body was found in August 2011 on the side of a road by horseback riders near Cahokia.

The three other defendants have pleaded not guilty and await trial.
Man charged in fatal Laclede's Landing stabbing
Darael Fentress faces multiple charges after police say he stabbed Kyle Roberts during an argument. Roberts was taken to the hospital where he died in the early morning of March 10. Fentress ran away from the scene, but was arrested later than night.
Violent weekend on Laclede's Landing
St. Louis Police were called to the landing about 3 a.m. Saturday after man was shot in the arm following a fight in the 600 block of North Second Street.
Then, just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, a metro-east man was stabbed to death in the 100 block of Laclede's Landing Boulevard. Police identified the victim as 28 year old Kyle Roberts of the 1200 block of Old Ripley Road near Sorento, Illinois.
Investigators say Roberts was killed after a heated exchange with another man. They're still looking for that man, but a suspect is in custody in the Saturday shooting.
Police identify woman found stabbed to death in her apartment
The woman's body was found inside her North County apartment this morning by a maintenance worker. Police say she had been stabbed several times. Fox 2 reports that the niece, who lives with the woman, was sitting in the apartment acting like nothing happened.
The woman has been identified as Bernice Winston of Ferguson.
Illinois parolee gets 4 years for Alton double stabbing
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A parolee originally charged with attempted murder in the Alton, Illinois stabbings of two brothers has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated battery.
The (Alton) Telegraph reports that Lavonte Brownlee entered the plea after prosecutors agreed to drop the more serious counts.
Authorities say Brownlee stabbed 40-year-old John Parker and 31-year-old Jay Parker last September outside the B&R Tavern after a dispute inside the East Alton business.
Police say John Parker was stabbed as many as 10 times, and his younger brother sustained two wounds. Both survived.
Brownlee was on parole after prison terms for armed robbery, home invasion and battery.
