MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut say a man they suspect killed three women took his own life minutes after officers confronted him.
Manchester police say they arrived on the scene about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, minutes after getting a 911 call. They say the armed suspect was leaving an apartment building carrying a young child. Police say shortly after police confronted the man, he put down the 13-month-old child and shot himself. The child was unharmed.
Police say an officer also fired at the man, but apparently missed.
Authorities say the officers checked the apartment building and found three deceased women in one unit. They apparently had been shot.
Police released no other details Sunday morning but say the investigation is continuing.
St. Louis Police announced today that they have a suspect in custody connected to the shooting of an off-duty officer this week.
On Wednesday night the officer was visiting his sister at her north St. Louis home. The officer asked to men inside the house to leave. One suspect ran out and while the officer was escorting the second man from the house, he shot at the officer. The victim was hit in the leg and the suspect ran from the scene.
The suspect was captured today and charges are pending. The officer was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
St. Louis County police are turning to the public for help to find a suspect in a triple shooting this weekend.
Investigators say the victims and the suspect got into a confrontation Saturday afternoon. Then at 10:30 PM Saturday night, the groups met outside the Dellwood Market. Police say the suspect started shooting, and his three people. All the victims are expected to survive.

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — A 39-year-old man has been charged in the shooting death of a Missouri Southern State University football coach.
Joplin police said Saturday that the Jasper County prosecutor's office has charged Jeffery Bruner of Joplin with felony murder and armed criminal action in 37-year-old Derek Moore's death. Moore died after he was shot Friday night as he left a Joplin movie theater.
Bruner is being held without bond in Joplin. Jail officials say it's not clear if he has a lawyer.
Moore was in his first year as a Missouri Southern offensive line coach. He came to MSSU after three seasons at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
The university canceled its Homecoming activities and said in a statement the school was "stunned and deeply saddened" by Moore's death.
A 20-year-old woman remains in critical condition after she was shot in the chest sitting outside a north St. Louis home early this morning.
The woman was sitting with two friends at a house near Fountain Park around 2:30 this morning, when an unknown suspect started shooting. The woman was hit, one of her friends pulled out a gun and shot back.
Police say it does not appear that the victim was the gunman's intended target. Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
The 63-year-old man accused of shooting at two people in a North County bar, has died, the man who attacked him, facing charges.
The shooting occurred late Friday night inside the Pirates Cove bar in Florissant. The Post-Dispatch reports that Edward Mueller of Florissant was disarmed and assaulted by Douglas Layman after the shooting. Mueller was taken to the hospital died from a heart attack.
Layman is the brother of the victims. Layman is charged with second degree murder and held on a quarter-million dollar bond.
St. Louis police say three people taken into custody yesterday aren't connected to the murder of a teen who was gunned down near a school bus stop Tuesday morning.
Police say 16 year old James Moore had been waiting for the school bus at Goodfellow and St. Louis Avenue when a masked man got out of a car, chased him into a nearby park and shot him several times. Moore died at the scene.
Later in the day, police stopped a car matching the description of the one used in the murder. The three suspects from that car who were initially questioned in the murder didn't get off scot-free. They're facing charges for fleeing from police.

A would-be robber is dead after starting a shoot out with police in North County.
Around 9:30 AM, Sunday, a woman called police after a man tried to force his way into her home. The victim knew the suspect and directed police to his home. When police arrived at the house in the 10000 block on Winkler, the man started shooting at officers. The Florissant police officers returned fire and killed the suspect.
No officers were injured. The suspect's identity has not been released.
A 32-year-old Imperial, Missouri man is behind bars after police say he shot is stepfather during a fight.
On Sunday after, officers arrived at a home in Imperial they found the stepfather with a gunshot wound to the stomach. He told police his stepson had shot him.
Police later arrested Nicholaus Lohrum and he is now head on a $75,000 bond.
Charges are filed against a teen connected to Wednesday's shooting of a Vashon High School senior.
17-year-old Lamarco Love is accused in the shooting. Police say that a group of teenagers were walking to school, when they were approached by Love and two others. An argument followed and when the first group of kids started to walk away, Love allegedly shot at them. A 17-year-old was hit in the back, and he is now in stable condition.
Police do not believe incident was gang related, but the result of a feud between the two groups.
