Police arrest man who jumped off Meramec River bridge

Wednesday, 26 June 2013 16:26 Published in Local News

The man who jumped off the Meramec River Bridge to avoid authorities, has been arrested.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they found the man this afternoon. Troopers did not release the suspect's name, but family members of Jeff Henning spoke media outlets earlier today saying they believed the missing man was their relative.

The incident started at 1:30 AM Wednesday, when police pulled over the suspect. He sped off and while crossing the bridge, exited his car and jumped into the river.

A Maplewood man is headed to prison for offering a reward to anyone who killed Maplewood Police Officers.

William Lawrence first came to the attention of authorities in February of 2012. Officers responded to a call and arrested him. During the incident, officers discovered marijuana plants and firearms in his apartment. After being released, Lawrence repeatedly demanded his firearms be returned, but police were holding them as evidence.

Frustrated, Lawrence then placed an ad on Craigslist that offered $1 million to anyone who murdered an officer. Lawrence will spend six years behind bars.
