A suspect is in custody connected to a fatal hit and run crash last week.

Charges are expected against Pelts on Wednesday.

Teen says she got HIV from sexual assault

Tuesday, 18 February 2014 13:38 Published in Local News
FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) - A 33-year-old man is under investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, and the teen told authorities that she contracted HIV from the man.

KMOV-TV reports that the suspect had a previous conviction as a sex offender. Formal charges have not been filed in the latest case.

Ferguson officer Tim Zoll says the investigation began late last year after authorities were contacted by the girl's family. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the suspect is HIV-positive.

Residents might notice a stronger stench from the Bridgeton Landfill while crews complete a repair.

A fire broke out at the landfill on Sunday because of a broken pipe. The fire sent smoke billowing into the air and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources had to be called in to test air quality.

Crews are now at work replacing a sump pump. Landfill officials say a stronger odor could be present until work is complete.
