One of Saint Louis University's most successful basketball coaches has died. Charlie Spoonhour died today at his home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Spoonhour's health had been fragile since having a lung transplant in 2010. Spoonhour's style of play,"Spoonball", led the Billikens to three NCAA tournament appearances from 1992-1999. Before coaching at SLU, Spoonhour led Missouri State (then called Southwest Missouri State), to four NCAA bids in nine seasons. Coach Spoonhour died Wednesday morning surrounded by his family. He was 72.
