Aging infrastructure and dangerous off ramps have Missouri Transportation officials planning for the future of the I-270 corridor in north St. Louis County.  They're ready to gather public input on some proposed solutions for the stretch between I-70 and the Chain of Rocks Bridge.
MoDOT will hold an open house next Tuesday evening, March 18th at the Hazelwood Civic Center East on Dunn Road.  The public can stop by at any time between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. to review the proposals and provide feedback.
MoDOT will also make the information available and gather input online through April 1st.  That virtual meeting and more information about  I-270 North project can be found on MoDOT's I-270 North website.

Drivers in Madison County should allow extra time for their travels Saturday if they use Interstate 270.

Starting at 5:30 AM, all westbound lanes of I-270 will be closed between Interstate 55/70 and Illinois Rte. 157. Crews will be replacing a damaged beam in the Meridian Road Bridge.

A detour is marked directing drivers to use I-55/70 west to I-255 north.

Transportation officials say the interstate should reopen by 9 PM Saturday.

There's good news for drivers in north county.  Missouri transportation officials report that all lanes of westbound I-270 have reopened after a broken water main had shut it down for several hours.

Just before 10 o'clock Monday night police closed westbound I-270 because of the broken main at Old Halls Ferry.  The closure caused traffic to back up all the way into Illinois.

By 1 a.m. Tuesday, one lane had reopened.

At about 2:30 Tuesday morning, MoDOT reported that all lanes had reopened.

They are hosting a meeting to gather information from people who travel on I-270. The meeting will be held Tuesday, July 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Student Center on campus of the St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, 3400 Pershall Rd.

The meeting is part of the 270 North Environmental Assessment, an ongoing study addressing congestion, safety, and aging infrastructure on 270.
