   An off-duty St. Louis firefighter is being called a hero after rescuing a man who had driven his truck into the River Des Peres Sunday.  

   Firefighter Chris Dimza was driving in the area just west of I-55 when he saw a crowd of people was pointing toward the river.  He stopped to see why.

   Upon learning that a truck had gone into the rain-swollen river, Dimza, who's part of a water rescue unit stationed in north St. Louis, dove into the water and swam toward bubbles.  A man surfaced briefly and the firefighter was able to bring him safely to shore.  

   Fire Department divers later pulled the man's truck from the water.  

   The driver was taken to a hospital.   He has not been identified and his condition is unknown.  No one else was injured in the incident.

   A night of violence has left 16 people with gunshot wounds from four separate incidents in the city of St. Louis.  

   Police say all of the victims are expected to recover.  Police were called to Highland and Marcus in north St. Louis about 10:30 p.m. when five people were shot. Four of them were juveniles and one was an adult. 

   Then about 30-minutes later, three more people were shot about a mile from the first scene, in the 800 block of Aubert Avenue.  

   The third shooting was in south St. Louis.  About 11:30 p.m. two people were shot in the 3800 block of Hartford Avenue.  

   About 1 a.m, four people were injured in a drive-by shooting at Warren and 19th Streets. That shooting involved in AK-47. 

   It's not known if any of the shootings were related.  All of the victims are expected to recover.  

One of the brothers injured during a botched robbery this morning in south St. Louis, has died. Now, they are asking for help to local the suspect in the murder.

On Friday, the suspect walked into a store at 4400 Chippewa. He demanded money from the owners--who were brothers. One of the men pulled out a baseball bat. That is when the suspect produced a gun and shot the two men.

19-year-old Haris Gogic was shot in the head and died later Friday afternoon. His brother was shot in the arm and is in stable condition.

The suspect is on the loosed. He is described as a black male, dark complexion, slim build, approximately 6 feet tall, late 20's - early 30's, having a mustache and goatee . He was wearing a grey shirt, grey pants and grey baseball cap.

 

 

   Two people are dead after separate crashes Wednesday evening.  

   The first accident happened just after 7:00 p.m. along southbound Interstate 55 near Loughborough.  A driver was ejected after hitting a guardrail and then another car.  The victim died at the scene.  

   The second fatal accident happened just before 9:30 p.m. along Airport Road in Berkeley.  Two cars collided, sending one into a utility pole.  Two people had to be extricated from that wreck.  The driver of that vehicle died at the scene.  The passenger from that car and the driver from the other car were both taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  

   None of the victims have been identified by police.

   A St. Louis man is among the dead after an EF5 tornado hit Moore, Oklahoma last week.  The twister killed 24 people and among them, St. Louis native Leslie Johnson.  

   Johnson's ex-wife and three children live in south St. Louis.  His family says Johnson had gone to Oklahoma two months ago to search for work.  

   Johnson had taken refuge in a closet when the storm hit and was killed when the building he was in was flattened.  

   A funeral home in Oklahoma City donated the cremation services, but his family needs help paying for a funeral.   Donations can be made at the following website.

 

 

 

   A family already grieving over the loss of a loved one is now grieving after his personal belongings were taken from a south city funeral home.  

   Leslie Granadillo had died May 21st after a five year battle with prostate cancer.  

   When his family went to retrieve the items from Kutis Funeral Home on Gravois, they learned that the mementos had mistakenly been given to someone else.  

   St. Louis police are investigating, but Granadillo's sister-in-law, Christy Roberts says the family isn't interested in filing charges.  They just want the mementos back for Granadillo's two young sons.

   "It means nothing to you and has no monetary value," Roberts said.  "Just bring it back.  Bring it here.  Bring it, you know, to someplace public so we can get it back, because we just want it for them."

   The missing items include a memory book, a lock of hair, medallions that said loving father, loving husband and a cross.  Granadillo's family is asking everyone in the area to check dumpsters and trash cans for the items as well.

 

   Witnesses are calling it a frightening situation.  

   A toddler stopped traffic on Southwest Avenue in south St. Louis Monday.  Fox 2 News reports that the child had been in the care of the Top of the Hill Daycare in the 5800 block of Southwest, when he wandered into the middle of the street.  

   One witness says the child in the street wasn't the only thing that was disturbing. "And on the curb, probably the hero in this thing, was a little girl, who was probably about five, holding back other toddlers from running into the street."

   Several cars stopped, their drivers corralling the child and getting him out of the road, then calling police.

   Police are now investigating.  

   The daycare has a sign that reads “state licensed,” but according to the Department of Health And Senior Services, that license expired at the end of March.  Police say the daycare is licensed with the city of St. Louis.

   A broken water main is forcing some south city residents to boil their water.  

   The city of St. Louis has issued a boil order while crews finish repairs to a 12-inch water main at Jamieson and Westway Road, near Francis Park.  The boil order affects the southwestern part of the city, including those south of Arsenal, west of Hampton, north of Eichelberger and east of River Des Peres.  

   Residents are instructed to boil water for three minutes before drinking it or using it in cooking.  If water sample tests due back Tuesday afternoon are clear, the boil order could be lifted at that time.  

   Because of the boil order, all three campuses of  the Word of Life Lutheran School and Step Ahead Childcare Academy in Southwest St. Louis will be closed Tuesday. 

   An 87 year old woman is dead, two others people are in the hospital after a man fleeing police crashed into the car she was in.  

   St. Louis police say officers were trying to locate an 18 year old man who was wanted by another jurisdiction.  Officers found him in a car at Grand and Osage about 3:00 p.m.  Police say the man sped away when officers approached.  

   Witnesses told police that the man's car slammed into the other vehicle, and he took off on foot.  Police caught him a short time later.  

   The 87 year old woman and two other people in the car with her were taken to the hospital.  The woman later died. The other two victims are expected to survive.

An off-duty St. Louis police officer is recovering from a broken leg and a concussion after an overnight car accident.

Police say a car pulled in front of the officer who was driving in his personal car just after midnight at Hampton and Milentz in St. Louis Hills.

The man has been a police officer since 1993.
