Semi driver, one other injured in morning crash
Two people are recovering from injuries after a tractor-trailer accident in Madison County. It happened just after 8:00 Friday morning.
Police say the semi had been eastbound on I-270 when it left the road just east of the Canal Bridge. The big rig broke through a barrier and rolled down to a construction road where it overturned.
EMS crews treated two people at the scene, including the truck driver.
It's not clear why the driver lost control of the semi or who the other injured person is.
School bus overturns in northern Illinois
WADSWORTH, Ill. (AP) -- Authorities say a school bus carrying more than two dozen elementary school children has overturned in northern Illinois.
Television footage from the scene near the village of Wadsworth shows the bus on its side, with two mangled cars nearby. Debris was scattered in an adjacent farm field.
Lake County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Sara Balmes (bahl-MEHS') told The Associated Press that there was no immediate word on injuries, although scores of emergency vehicles surrounded the wreck.
The bus was taking 25 children to Newport Elementary School, which is about 45 miles north of Chicago.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. about a mile from the school, which has some 400 students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
Speeding car crashes into north city apartment building
A Jennings woman is in serious but stable condition after she crashed her car into a north city apartment building Thursday night. It happened just before midnight at Martin Luther King and Burd.
The crash punched a hole in the Arlington Grove Jeffery L. Boyd building. Crews spent most of Friday morning cleaning up the mess.
St.Louis police say the 33 year old woman had been speeding, blowing through two stop signs along Dr. King, before swerving to avoid a stopped car. That's when she lost control, hit two stop signs, a light pole and a metal trash can before crashing into the building.
Police say no one inside the building was hurt.

Police say a car pulled in front of the officer who was driving in his personal car just after midnight at Hampton and Milentz in St. Louis Hills.
The man has been a police officer since 1993.
