Voters in St. Louis City and St. Louis County also voted to pass Proposition P, also known as the Arch Tax. A sales tax hike of 3/16 of a cent will now go towards improving parks, trails, and the Gateway Arch. A tax increase of that size adds up to about 2 cents for every $10 dollars spent. It's expected to raise about $780 million over the next 20 years, or about $39 million a year. Prop P had to pass in both the city and county. It passed in the city with 67% of the vote, and it passed in the county with 53%.
