Friday, 21 June 2013 14:30 Published in Local News

A 13-year-old boy with autism is hospitalized after being struck by a car in St. Louis County.

The accident happened about 3:00 this morning. The boy has a broken jaw and head injuries, and is in serious condition. Police say the driver of the Chevrolet Impala that struck the boy said it was dark and by the time he saw him it was too late.

Authorities say the boy has a history of wandering away from home.

Charges are filed after a toddler died in a hot car yesterday.

Wayne Hubert was charged with involuntary manslaughter of a family member and endangering the life of a child. Police say Hubert was watching his 23-month-old son and 4-year-old daughter on Thursday. After loading his son up in the car, he went back inside but got distracted and forgot about the boy. His mother found him hours later.

Hubert is held on a quarter-a-million dollar bond.
